Join the Food Science Graduate Student Association (FSGSA) on Saturday August 26 2017 from 5-8pm for an evening of hands-on cooking with Chef Irene Yim. This fundraiser will help support FSGSA company tours, professional development, internal scholarships and student activities.
Registration begins at 4:30pm.
Cooking begins at 5:00pm in the Food Innovation Lab.

HANDS ON COOKING WITH CHEF IRENE YIM
Irene Yim has worked in restaurant kitchens all her life starting with her parents 3 Chinese restaurants. She then went on to graduate from California Culinary Academy Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco with honors and worked for highly acclaimed chefs in the Bay Area. Her passion for learning about food and cooking techniques has brought her all over the world, apprenticing in Singapore and Thailand, working as a sausage maker and cheesemonger in New Orleans, running banquets in Sausalito, and writing recipes for Chef Martin Yan. Since then her interests have turned to how food affects the greater population outside of the restaurant setting, and is now a Food Science PhD student at UC Davis.
Cost: $65.00 per person;includes hands-on cooking, dinner, dessert and wine.
First Course Chilled sweet summer corn soup with chives Arancini with peas and mozzarella
Second Course Mustard and garlic crusted pork chops Fontina and corn soft polenta Brioche panzanella, brown sugar bacon, tomatoes, peaches
Dessert Whipped Sabayon, balsamic marinated strawberries

The Univerisity has strict health requirements when using the kitchen. Please be prepared to pull long hair back in a pony-tail covered with a hairnet (which will be provided) or you may bring your own baseball cap. Beards will need to be covered as well.
