2021 Journey Level Exam

The Journey level written portion of the exam is available online 2 weeks before the practical exam. Online retakes can be done if needed prior to practical.

Candidates will have 2 hours to complete the online exam which consists of multiple choice, true/false, short answer, and matching questions. This is a 'closed book' online exam.

Passing grade is 80% for both written and practical exams. Please note if COVID restrictions prevent in-person practical exams, or if you are unable to get to a location in person, practical exams over Zoom or YouTube video submissions are accepted.

Exam retakes are available for an additional examination fee of $50.

 At the EL Niño Bee Lab we work with live honey bees. Honey bees are stinging insects and while most stings do not require medical attention, a small portion of the human population can develop a life-threatening allergy. When working in the hives you will need to wear closed-toed and closed-heel shoes, long pants and long-sleeved shirt. Protective gear will be provided for you, but if you prefer you can bring your own. If stung, immediately remove the stinger by scraping it off and wash the area to remove alarm pheromone. If you experience shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea or any other serious symptoms, immediately seek medical attention.
