Exploration Honey Series

Experience the sweet terroir of California, North America and the World!

This three part tasting program will introduce participants to both the world of honey sensory science as well as a unique and educational tasting experience. The monthly program begins February 8th and will be held in person for each one and half hour session in the Silverado Vineyards Sensory Theater at UC Davis. A special gift valued at $25 will be given to those that sign up for all three sessions!

Schedule of classes included in your VIBee Pass:

California Honeys - February 8th 2023

North American Honeys - March 22nd 2023

World Honeys - April 25th 2023

February 8

5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Silverado Vineyards Sensory Theater

California, home to a diverse number of honeys in addition to being the Center's home base, is the perfect place to start our exploration. Our discussion will take us through three or four unique varietal honeys and then on to pairing each with a selection of cheeses, also from California.

March 22

5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Silverado Vineyards Sensory Theater

Explore regional honey favorites from Florida Tupelo to Appalachian Sourwood and north to Fireweed from the Cascades. Every section of our country has a unique and wonderful honey they call their own. This session will also introduce you to Mead, the alcoholic beverage made from honey which reflects these diverse honeys.

April 25

5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Silverado Vineyards Sensory Theater

Travel the world through your tastebuds! Many countries boast of their unique varietals, often rare and expensive! This international experience will introduce you to honey produced by the Melipona bee.

This little pollinator has an unusual hive with unusual honey. Ours will be coming from Brazil, a gift from one of the California Master Beekeeper Students who lives part of the year in Brazil and collects Melipona honey.
